My students finally finished up their writing yearbooks and today, I bound 36 books! My first and second graders (next year I'll have kindergarten complete them too) have been working since September on these yearbooks.
Every month, they completed a page and I used it as a writing assessment. It is fun to see just how far they have come in writing and I'm sure their parents will appreciate the keepsake.

And, finally, my kindergartners finished up their interviews. I promised them I'd bind them all into a book, but I didn't get to it yet. Here are some examples.

I really like the idea of doing writing books. I haven't been on top of their writing as much as I would have liked this year.

This is a wonderful idea, Lori! It must be so great for the students (and the parents and you) to see how far they have come throughout the year. It is also a great way to make sure that you have a writing sample from each month. Thanks for sharing!

LOVE The Writing Yearbook, Lori. How cute! I am getting your Writing Station Activity for Young Learners (1 and 2) and Posters to use next year. I love how you organized your papers. I have had one of those organizers for years and have always struggled with a good way to label each section. The binder clip is genius, I tell ya! I love these doodling coloring pages. They are fun and relaxing to color. Put them out in the classroom as an option for children to color in their free time.
