Descriptive Attributes

In first grade, we are learning about descriptive attributes. I modeled how to write a thesis statement and then wrote a paragraph, describing a student in the class. Then, the children had to guess who it was.

This is my example. My paragraph begins with a thesis statement. We underlined the descriptive attributes. We have been discussing descriptive attributes all week. Before I wrote the last sentence, the children guessed who I was writing about. They got the answer right!

Here are some of their examples.

This was a fun activity that also helped to strengthen their sentence writing ability. We are working hard on improving our conventions.
